What is teacher professional development?
Teacher professional development is continuing learning that helps educators review and develop their practice. It can include structured courses, discussion, reflection and applying ideas in an educational setting.
At RVA, this is CPD—not QTS, an initial teaching licence or an Ofqual/RQF-regulated qualification.
Start with a clear learning goal
Before choosing a course, consider your current responsibilities and the questions you want to explore. You might be seeking broader teacher development, SEND-related CPD, early childhood professional learning or advanced trainer development.
Useful questions include:
- What do I want to understand or approach differently?
- Which programme matches my qualifications and teaching experience?
- Can I attend its live classes in my time zone?
- How will I make space for assessment and reflection?

Frameworks for reflection
RVA’s named frameworks were created and developed by Asjad Sheikh:
- Tricycle Model: Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor development.
- 3A’s Framework: Atmosphere, Attitude and Action.
- Wall of Knowledge: awareness and reflection on learning.
Explore their explanations and boundaries before applying them. Reflective examples are not diagnostic methods or guaranteed formulas for improvement.
Put your learning into practice
A useful way to reflect on professional learning is to identify one relevant idea, consider how it fits your setting and review what happens when you apply an appropriate change.
Discuss the approach with colleagues where helpful and follow your setting’s policies. Avoid assuming that participation in a course automatically produces a measurable learner outcome.
Understand live learning and CPD status
All five RVA programmes are delivered live online. Duration, class frequency, assessment and prerequisites vary; the individual course pages give the details.

CPD Credits should not automatically be interpreted as teaching/contact hours. Course accreditation is not a teaching licence or a regulated qualification.
Questions before choosing a route
Can someone without teaching experience apply?
The 21st Century Teacher Training Diploma does not require teaching experience, but does require a bachelor’s degree. Other programmes have their own prerequisites; do not assume eligibility is the same across all courses.
Does professional-development training provide QTS?
No. RVA’s offer is CPD and does not provide QTS, a teaching licence or an Ofqual/RQF-regulated qualification.
Where can I compare fees and programme requirements?
Start with the course hub, then open the individual programme page. Pakistan fees are clearly labelled; learners in India, UAE and Bangladesh should contact RVA for country-specific enrolment and payment guidance.
